Saddle-nose deformity

Saddle-nose deformity

Saddle – nose is a deformity defining the dorsal depression on the middle vault of the nose. It is mostly acquired. External trauma to the nose or inappropriate rhinoseptoplasty surgery damage the nasoseptal cartilage and decrease the dorsal nasal structural support. This causes middle vault collapse and may cause nasal airway obstruction. These patients complain about an obvious unaesthetic look. It is a challenge to correct this deficiency. For that reason, we show ultimate attention not to take away the excess cartilage during rhinoplasty or rhinoseptoplasty and not to lose the support of the middle vault. In treatment, we focus to support the residual septum with extra cartilages. If we cannot find them in the nose, we use conchal ear cartilages.
